Final Fantasy X-2
Alright, so I started this costume the Sunday before Ohayocon 2009. Tsk tsk to me. I finished it Friday morning at 7:30am, just a little less than 12 hours before my judging appointment. However, due to the rush job there are various things I'm going to be redoing for the next time it's worn. Firstly I'll be redrafting the sleeves, remaking the collar (since it perpetually needed Viagra), redoing the orange trim, redoing the wig and hairpieces (since both were destroyed) redoing the gold cuffs (since my first ones failed hard), and finally getting around to making the fan. That being said I'm pretty pleased with how this costume came out. For someone who is more of a wig person than a seamstress, it wasn't entirely all that bad.
The main fabric was PVC pleather. I bought 6 yards of pink, 1 yard or orange, 1 yard of purple, 1 yard of cream, and 3 yards of off white faux-leather. I cut and sewed all the triangles individually. There's about 105 of them on there. Instead of pinning them in place I used double sided tape, so I wouldn't mar the fabric.
This costume features a secret pocket around the right knee area (sometimes looks like a crumple or bulge) where I store my phone and badge at conventions. The boots were purchased from Electrique Boutique.com. The jacket is actually separate from the leotard. They're held together by 8 large snaps, four on the front, four on the back. The leotard also features a snap crotch, because I learned from Sailor Moon that backzippers are not fun.
